Less Expectations, More Experiences

Less is More Series | Week 4

False expectations of yourself? Yep. We all do it.

We put ourselves in a category of comparison, and we start to expect things of ourselves that, quite frankly, don’t make sense.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not confusing this with unrealistic expectations...which, to you, might sound like the same thing.  But to me, that means that something is impossible, and I’m a firm believer that anything is possibleHowever, false expectations are the ones that just don’t.make.sense. They don’t fit who you are, but instead, they fit who someone you idolize to be.

Stop beating yourself up over not living up to your false expectations of yourself...start experiencing life as it hands it to you.  Live it. Breathe it. Don’t get upset when things don’t necessarily go the way you wanted...the way you expected.  My bet? God has something way cooler for you down the road, and you are missing an amazing opportunity to experience just want that is, by getting caught up in the jumble of false expectations.

^ps-I’m mostly writing this to myself to remember...but will you join me in it?

Check out week three, two, and one of this series here!

Internship Positions Available!

Like weddings? Lots of glitter? Sometimes wearing your slippers to work? You might be just the right fit.

Andra Delores Design is looking for two interns to work 5-10 hours/week. We are a custom wedding stationery & design studio based in good ol’ Eau Claire, Wisconsin...and we pride ourselves in the ultimate client experience when it comes to stationery (no cookie cutter stuff going on over here!).

Like what you see? Read further:

Position #1: Office Manager
I am looking for a responsible & conscientious cheerleader/office manager, who is passionate about the wedding industry. We are a small business with a growing client list that requires a lot of attention and organization. Office Manager duties would consist of:
-Writing and posting blog posts
-Writing and scheduling monthly newsletter
-Keeping up on social media
-Scheduling and attending bridal fairs and shows
-Project management

The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator and writer who has that extra oomph for the personal details. You need to be self motivated with excellent time management skills, and organization/attention to detail are a must! You also must be able to bring your own laptop computer to work with you each day.
*If you are a list-making queen, that’s an added bonus.

Position #2: Assistant Designer
Just dying for the opportunity to work and design in the wedding industry? Cool. Let’s be friends.   Design duties would consist of:
-Assisting on edits
-Helping to jump start new projects
-Graphic Design/ layout projects

I am looking for someone who is a good listener, quick learner and a problem solver. This person will be my right hand person when it comes to graphic design and visual design assistance. You’ll be doing lots of switching between projects, so creativity is a must.  You must also own your own laptop computer and adobe suites software (illustrator, photoshop, and indesign).
*Added bonus if you also have mad photography skillz.

If you have any interest in learning how a small business works, either of these positions would be a great opportunity to get involved. You’ll have your hand in the business and will be an integral part of it’s growth and success. Plus, you will have the opportunity to attend wedding industry meetings and network with other wedding professionals. Um, hello awesomeness! I’m looking for two individuals who are self-motivated and professional, and are passionate about all-things-wedding

Because of the small nature of this business, the right attitude, personality and sense of humor are just as important as background and experience. The office is a home studio in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, so you must have your own transportation. The start date would be ASAP.

Since these are internships, the hours are totally flexible. These are also unpaid internships, but I can speak from experience when I say:
"the outcome of investing yourself in something like this is priceless"

Please send your resume, links or a PDF of your work and a cover letter that best showcases your personality to hello@andradeloresdesign.com

*ps- We can definitely chat college internship credit, if that is something you are interested in!
